Dangerous to mix religion with politics, says NGO
He said one needs to be mature while engaging in politics and to jumble it with religion could create a dangerous political situation.Kota Kinabalu: Mixing religion and politics will lead to unrest in Malaysia, said Sabah-based Pakatan NGO Pro BN Chairman Zulkarnain Mahdar.
"We must respect each other's religion and should not interfere with other religions' affairs.
This is what we have done in the past. Religion is an internal affair and politics is politics," he said to reporters after lodging a police report against Johor DAP Deputy Chairman S. Ramakrishnan Suppiah for posting a photo insulting Muslims.
According to Zulkarnain, the opposition leader had uploaded an image of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor at Masjidil Haram in Mecca and shared in his Facebook page with the caption "All sins cleansed "and in the photograph was written "Now we can steal again."
However, he said the image that was posted on Thursday has been deleted.
"The edited image is rude, absurd and irresponsible. It is an insult to all Muslims, as if he implied that Muslims who did their Hajj and Umrah can sin again and again and can clear all their sins once they visit the Masjidil Haram.
"Masjidil Haram is a sacred place for Muslims and you can't simply make fun of this place.
"The picture is not only meant for Najib and his wife but actually reflects on all Muslims and now this photo is going viral in WhatsApp and Facebook and this is causing rage among the Muslims."
Zulkarnain said it is vital for the police to take action against such irresponsible and rude tactics to make fun of Islam and Muslims.
"We are in the midst of discussing with our lawyer to see if there is any possibility for us to charge him on behalf of all the Muslims," he said.

Zulkarnain said it is imperative the authorities act swiftly against the culprit who insulted the Prime Minister and also Muslims as a whole
