NO ONE CAN BE
YOUNG TWICE I
Text: Lamentation 3:27-29 “It is good for a man to bear the yoke in
his youth. Let him sit alone and keep silent, because God has laid it on him;
let him put his mouth in the dust, there may yet be hope”.
The scripture above is for both the
young and old. No one can be young twice. It is a time of unqualified strength
and energy. A period of myriads of
suggestions and ideas. Numerous choices to be made which range from
spiritual and physical decisions. It is the season of making foundation for the
future. If you see an old man/woman still struggling in the late sixties or
early seventies know fully well that errors were made in the early years. In
order not to regret in life later, time of youth is a time when wise choices
must be made. A period when yoke must be borne. A time to study to show oneself
approved. A time to ponder on the path to follow.
After all said and done. Solomon the
wisest King wrote in Ecclesiastes 12:1 “Remember now your creator in the days
of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you
say. “I have no pleasure in them”.
The days of our youth are days of warfare, you
have got to decide which path to follow. You cannot sit on the fence. Moses called
on the entire nation of Israel to choose between life and death, blessing and
cursing (Deuteronomy 30:19). If only you can choose to be on the Lord’s side
early in life, your life will not be lived in regrets. You achieve greatness
right on time. Diseases and failure will be far removed from you.
God is seeking that every youth be
His own and Satan is also trying to get the mind of the youth because he is
like a roaming lion, seeking who to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Never allow your
youthful days to be wasted. Follow God and serve Him heartily. Choose life.
Pray with me, Father, let me not
live a life of regrets in old age. Help me to bear my yoke in the days of my
youth in Jesus name. Amen
