SALVATION IS FREE
Memory Verse: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8)
Text: Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5
Paul stated it simply "For by grace are ye saved...". Salvation is free gift of God for all sinners. Sinners are under the wrath and judgement of God, owing a debt they could not pay like the two debtors in Luke 7:41-42. Their cancelled debt was purely a gracious act, they did not earn it. This is thee same love and mercy God showed to all sinners when He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to die on the cross. Salvation then is a river that flows out of the spring of grace. Indeed, sinners are bankrupt having nothing to pay for their redemption. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8). Unfortunately, many people misunderstand what salvation really is.

In what ways do people misunderstand salvation today?
There are many misconceptions concerning salvation. Some have the belief that because their parents are saved, they sing in the choir, give alms, are members of the school fellowship, regularly attend weekly programmes and camp meetings, are living moral lives, etc; they are saved. If for anything, you must not get the concept wrong. Getting it wrong on salvation is the most dangerous situation in life. To get it wrong on salvation means getting about everything else, because your eternal destiny hinges on it.

What is Salvation?
Salvation is deliverance from sin and its consequences. It is not earned through the efforts of any man. It is given freely because of the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. It therefore comes by grace through faith. This leaves no room for anyone to boast that they earned it through their own goodness.

According to the following scriptural reference how can a sinning people be saved?
i.     Psalm 51:3, Luke 18:13
ii.    Proverb 28:13
iii.   John 1:12
iv.   Romans 10:13
In order to be saved, a sinner must humbly realize his/her sinfulness, confess and forsake all rebellious practices and receive Christ into his/her heart by faith. If you will repent and call upon the Lord now, you will be saved. "For whosever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)
